April was Rhyming Picture Book Month and I participated in the first RhyPiBoMo event given by Angie Karcher. Angie is dedicated to enriching the lives of children through rhyme. Rhyme helps the child to develop a sense of pattern and rhythm to develop their language skills.
Through Angie's delicious presentation of meter, rhyme, scansion, assonance, consonance, alliteration, lusious language and many other poetic mechanics, I have walked away with a plethora of knowledge. She presented 35 lessons filled with her heart and determination to get rhyme into our picture books. If you are a rhymer or would like to test the waters of rhyme, I highly recommend you join next year's RhyPiBoMo. Angie will lead you down the road on how to write brilliant rhyme and singing poetry. I have lightly touched on this amazing event, but if I have struck a chord in you about rhyme, please visit this beautiful lady by clicking the link button on the right hand side of this blog page. Angie Karcher is hosting RhyPiBoMo in April, 2014. The focus will be on brilliant rhyming and singing poetry. Several guest bloggers have been lined up to give valuable tips on the subject. I have known Angie for sometime and she is a vibrant and creative personality. Please put this date on your calendar and look for updates here or on the RhyPiBoMo Facebook Page. You will find enthusiasm and fun!
Meg Miller hosted ReviMo, January, 2014 and it was a great event in my life. Meg can be found at http//www.megmillerwrites.blogspot.com. If you haven't heard of ReviMo, it is an opportunity to get those old MS out and revise and revise some more. She had great guests who posted their own thoughts on revising with thoughtful words of advice. Meg listed many resource sites to help give you ideas on how to improve your revising techniques. Prizes were offered and there were several lucky winners. I came away with new thoughts about cutting the word count in my picture books. i revised 6 PB MS during the 7 day event. I'm going to keep my revision hat on and treasure this encouraging experience.
